Where is Segais?

Re: Little Wings: The Outbounders of Segais

Segais of course, is a forest covered magical land in the depths of my mind. There are several townships within Segais - Arum the land of the Faerie where Madar Guirmean was born and is also where the Faerie Queen, Queen Ceridwen, lives in her tree palace. This land has mnay fruiting trees and tubers. Faeries tend to be vegan, so there is no killing of birds and insects or fishing. Have wings will travel, meaning faeries can be found all over Segais and have evolved to suit the environment the choose to live in.

Cocklebur is the land of the gnome, where Sobhrag is born and lives and where the majority of Segais's population of gnomes live including Ogham the gnome king. Cocklebur in my mind has the largest trees with the thickest trunks and the gnomes either build homes out of the tree itself or build a shack inits branches. They travel by goat, but because many parts of Segais has very steep and difficult terrain they tend to not travel too far out of Cocklebur, unless they have chosen to become Outbounders. Cocklebur is on the eastern side of Segais

Gort is where the pacific ocean meets Segais, in the west, and the best steel and crafters of weaponry can be found. Gort is a damp and cold and rains most of the year. Here, you'll find hardy souls and those who have a natural affinity with water. This is the home of Liath Lus a water Faerie, one who has slightly silver skin and is cool in personality.

Ulmaria - the land of the elf. Elves travel by albatross and therefore they have migrated to other parts of Segais as well. Ulmaria is nestled in sharp tree covered hills and is very difficult to get to. They are by nature very tight with one another and are not keen to let outsiders' in. This is the home of Outbounding elves Hefin and Piper and is where the elf queen, Queen Azrael lives. There is a high level of crystal content in the hills of Ulmaria which they use to make weapons and utensils. The embedded crystals also give Ulmaria an aura of protection, by upsetting the compasses of anyone who happen to be travelling nearby. If you are ever lucky enough to reach the township of Ulmaria, you'll find the architecture absolutely stunning, far exceeding the technical abilities of those from other lands. Like their architecture, elves are exquisite with high cheek bones a quiet nature and angelic skin. But they don't make friends easily with those who are not of their kind.

Balgann, in the northern parts of Segais - the original home of old Outbounder Vulgare and Borrach, Madar's teacher at the Agaric. This land has the lowest population of life, due to its mountainous ranges, fierce cold winds and barren tussock grass covered lands. There are no trees, low bird life and the inhabitants tend to build their homes underground, where there is a thermal line running from the mountains, warming some parts of the earth.

The Agaric is where one goes to train to become an Outbounder. These are underground limestone tunnels with vortex windows, showing activities of the human world. This is where Outbounders leave and enter Segais. The Agaric is surrounded by volcanic mudpools that belch out sulphur smelling thick steam, hiding the entrance into the tunnels.
